CALL SCOPE

The Indonesian Science Fund (Dana Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia, known as DIPI) is an independent funding institution established in 2016. Since then, DIPI has coordinated and managed many national and international research calls, as well as research project management collaboration with national and international funding agencies. In 2024, DIPI started a Small Research Grant scheme to provide funding for the best proposals submitted from early career researchers based on scientific excellence and/or technical merit. The scheme is particularly aimed to support Indonesia young scientists in starting their research careers.

DIPI recognizes that there is a need for a small research grant scheme to allow early career/young Indonesian researchers to pursue specific but critical aspects in expanding their research programs. The critical aspects such as: to obtain proof of preliminary concept to a new scientific endeavor, to seek the technology solution, to support graduate student research work as part of bigger research scheme, and to finalize of an otherwise successful research project.

The 2025 DIPI Small Research Grant Call aims to help young, talented researchers to gain more experience and research capability for their careers. DIPI invites young researchers who have the ambition and feasibility to submit their scientific proposals which demonstrate a ground-breaking nature. The scheme aims to support fundamental, frontier, technology solution and excellent research, including technology innovation, in the focus areas of the importance on future Indonesia sustainability.

The scheme provides grants to proposals in the research area of Medical and Health Science, such as in:

  • Infectious diseases: pathology, socioeconomics, detection of variants, predicting viral evolution and trends in infection and severe disease, etc.
  • Noncommunicable diseases: cardiovascular disease (such as heart attacks and stroke), cancers, chronic respiratory diseases (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma), diabetes, etc.
