Jakarta, July 18, 2023 – The Indonesian Science Fund, also known as Dana Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (DIPI), has unveiled the Innovative Science and Development Hub (ISDH) as a tangible effort to foster collaboration between science and policy. In an inaugural event held at the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) building on July 18, 2023, DIPI highlighted its commitment to creating a neutral scientific space, facilitating discussions among experts, and bridging the gap between science and policy-making.
ISDH, known as a coordination hub for scientific research findings, aims to assist in transforming scientific discoveries into innovation, findings, and policy recommendations that are practical and impactful. This marks a significant step for DIPI in strengthening Indonesia’s global competitiveness through a sustainable research ecosystem and adequate financial infrastructure.
The ISDH launch event was attended by over 60 in-person participants and 35 virtual attendees, featuring nine prominent speakers involved in two interactive discussion sessions. The speakers provided valuable insights into how science can play a role in effective policy-making. These discussions aimed to gather essential insights that will be delivered to decision-makers.
In addition to the ISDH launch, DIPI has conducted various other activities, including managing 11 international collaborative research projects focused on various aspects of science, such as research on mangrove ecosystems in partnership with Aberystwyth University UK. DIPI has also successfully hosted a series of webinars and scientific discussions that bring together various stakeholders to address critical issues such as biodiversity, climate change, and carbon trading.
All these activities demonstrate DIPI’s commitment to advancing science in Indonesia and making a positive contribution to addressing global challenges, such as climate change and environmental conservation. With ISDH and other initiatives, DIPI plays a pivotal role in building a collaborative network involving researchers, scientists, innovators, and policymakers to achieve science-based solutions that benefit everyone.
